MBA In CSRWhile the increasing importance of CSR has been a well known fact for some time now, The Centre of Excellence of the Mysore University has launched a full time MBA in CSR. There are 120 seats for it at the moment. The Mysore University is the first university in South East Asia to launch such a course. Selection will based on a group discussion followed by a personal interview.

In order to make the course effective and as real time as possible, the Mysore University has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) and the Standing Conference of Public Enterprises for placements.

“Last year, CSR was declared mandatory for all companies. Under this, over 3,000 big companies and 11,000 small companies will have to set up separate CSR departments with full-fledged operations. As a result, many professionals will be required. Keeping this in mind, CSR-CoE is going to start MBA in CSR.” Dipankar Mahanta, the Co Ordinator of the program, said.

An MBA in CSR will provode an opportunity to the students who wish to combine social issues with business perspectives. We expect this new stream to generate a lot of interest among students and qualified CSR professionals in its due course. Watch this space for more developments.
